Privacy Policy

This policy explains what AusCalcs does — and does not do — with your information. It is written in plain English because a privacy policy nobody can read protects nobody. Rates current as at 25 August 2026.

The short version

The numbers you type into our calculators never leave your browser. We do not ask you to create an account, we do not sell data, and we do not build profiles of individual visitors. We use Google Analytics to count visits in aggregate, and analytics only runs if you consent to it.

Calculator inputs are never collected

Every calculator on AusCalcs runs entirely in your browser using client-side JavaScript. Your salary, property price, loan balance, HECS debt, super balance and every other figure you enter is processed on your own device and is never transmitted to our servers, never written to a database, and never logged. We could not retrieve what you typed even if we were asked to, because it was never sent anywhere.

When you use a calculator's "share" or "copy link" feature, your inputs are encoded into the URL you generate so the person you send it to sees the same scenario. That link is created by you and shared by you — we never see it unless you send it to us.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to understand which calculators people use, which pages are popular, roughly where visitors are located (country and state level), and what devices they browse on. This tells us which calculators to improve and which rates matter most to keep current.

This data is aggregated and does not identify you. We do not use analytics to build individual profiles, we have not enabled Google Signals or advertising personalisation features on our analytics property, and we do not share analytics data with third parties for marketing.

Consent and your choices

AusCalcs implements Google Consent Mode v2. When you first arrive, analytics and advertising storage are set to denied by default — nothing is stored until you make a choice. If you accept, analytics cookies are enabled. If you decline or ignore the banner, measurement continues only in a cookieless, aggregated form that cannot identify you.

You can change your mind at any time by clearing site data for auscalcs.com.au in your browser settings, which resets your stored preference and shows the banner again.

Cookies we use

  • Preference cookies and local storage — remember your consent choice and small conveniences such as the last state you selected in a stamp duty dropdown. These are set by AusCalcs and are not shared.
  • Analytics cookies — set by Google Analytics only after you consent, used to distinguish one visit from another so we can count sessions accurately.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. All AusCalcs calculators work normally with cookies disabled — none of the maths depends on them.

Advertising

AusCalcs does not currently display third-party advertising. We intend to fund the site with advertising in future, and this section describes how that will work so the disclosure is in place before anything changes.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to our users based on their visit to AusCalcs and other sites on the internet.
  • You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
  • You may opt out of third-party vendor cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info.
  • Google's own practices are described in How Google uses information from sites that use our services.

We will never share personally identifiable information with advertisers, and we will not allow advertising that impersonates a calculator result or is presented as though it were our own editorial content.

What we never do

  • We do not sell, rent or trade personal information.
  • We do not require an account, an email address, or any sign-up to use any calculator.
  • We do not send marketing email to people who have not asked for it.
  • We do not embed social media tracking pixels or "like" buttons that report your visit back to a social network.

Links to other sites

We link heavily to primary sources — the ATO, state revenue offices, the ABS, the RBA and Services Australia — because every rate we publish should be checkable. Those sites have their own privacy policies and we are not responsible for their practices. A link from AusCalcs is a citation, not an endorsement.

Your rights

Because we do not collect personal information, there is generally nothing held about you to access, correct or delete. If you have contacted us by email, we hold that correspondence and you may ask us to delete it. We handle any personal information we do receive in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

Children

AusCalcs is a general-audience financial information site. It is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially — particularly when advertising goes live — we will update this page and change the review date at the top. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
